All members of The Omega Sector BBS are expected to conduct themselves with diplomacy and respect, both for themselves and for other members. The following is an outline of what is expected of our posters. Failure to comply will result in a warning being issued by a Moderator.

Omega Sector BBs Policy 2.4:

  • No personal attacks, disrespectful, derogatory, threatening, profane, insulting or negative remarks and/or images, whether direct or indirect, towards any other board member(s) is permitted.
  • No personal attacks, disrespectful, derogatory, threatening, profane, insulting or negative remarks and/or images, whether direct or indirect, towards any race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation/lifestyle, gender, or other group(s) is permitted. Exceptions: disrespectful, derogatory remarks, et cetera, are permitted via Freedom of Speech to be made of any Government, Political Party, Celebrity or other Public Personality, Franchise, or Corporation.
  • No symbols, political or religious, whether intact or defaced may be displayed or sent either via post, private message, avatar, signature or other available contact information contained within a users profile, of any other member(s) for any reason.
  • No harassment and/or spamming, either via post, private message, avatar, signature or other available contact information contained within a users profile, of any other member(s) for any reason is permitted.
  • No advertising, either via post, private message, avatar or other available contact information contained within a users profile. Exceptions: Advertising for a personally owned or personally affiliated website via signature is permitted. However, advertising for any profit-based website, personal or professional, is not permitted (IE, e-bay, Amazon.com, et cetera)
  • We strive to ensure The Omega Sector is a positive place for all posters. Please do not troll (IE, posting inflammatory statements and/or images for the sole purpose of inciting an emotional response) either via post, private message, avatar, signature or other available contact information contained within a users profile, as this is not permitted.
  • No images containing explicit adult content, (IE, nudity) can be displayed either via post, private message, avatar, signature or other available contact information contained within a users profile is permitted.
  • Sexually suggestive, and/or sexually-related content is permitted so long as there is a warning in the topic's title/description so that minors, or those offended by such, know to avoid it. We advise board members to exercise their best judgment in posting such material though. If in doubt, refrain, and contact a Moderator for clarification first.
  • No distribution and/or sale of legal/illegal and/or personal materials/information, either via post, private message, avatar or other available contact information contained within a users profile is permitted. This includes distribution and/or sale of copyright protected materials, such as films, televisions shows, DVDs, MP3's, CD's, software, hardware, et cetera.
  • The sale and/or distribution of any individuals personal information is also not permitted. No criminal and/or illegal actions may be transacted through this board at any time, for any reason.
  • Though not expressly forbidden, it is advised that discussion of Peer-2-Peer (P2P) file sharing programs not become a primary thread or topic within the Omega Sector BBs. If the topic does arise within an existing post, however, it will be permitted, so long as no links, direct or indirect, to any such software, are posted.
  • Profane language, on it's own and separate from any of the above, is permitted in moderation, via freedom of speech. We advise board members to exercise their best judgment in posting such material though. Excessive, persistent use of profanity, however, may yield a warning as the situation dictates.
  • Individual Member Signatures should not consume a total area of more space than would be consumed by a maximum total of 4 (four) banner-sized images of 200 (two-hundred) pixels in height, by 575 (five-hundred-seventy-five) pixels in width. Nor should any 1 (one) banner-sized image be of a file size of more than 225 KBs. This overall size area can include any number combination of text and images, so long as the total(s) do not exceed the overall maximum. (IE, multiple smaller images, and multiple lines of text.) If uncertain as to these dimensions, simply request aid in the 'Help and Feedback' forum. If you exceed these limits, an Admin or Moderator will Private Message you requesting you alter your signature as you wish to abide by them.
  • We strive to ensure that the Omega Sector is an honest place for one and all. As such, no individual may have more than one account, nor may anyone have more than one persona/identity. No multiple personalities, in any fashion, will be permitted or tolerated. You are who you are; do not attempt or pretend to be someone else, whether brother, sister, father, mother, friend, et cetera all. This and other such fraudulent activity (IE, exaggerated medical conditions, personal/familial tragedies, financial difficulties, et cetera) are not allowed and will be dealt with swiftly.
  • The Omega Sector is it's own forum; any and all arguments taking place on other forums are to be left at said other forums. Attempting to resume, continue, or transplant an argument from another forum or public venue to the Omega Sector, or referencing said other arguments, whether via post or private message is not permitted.
  • Anyone deemed to cause a primarily negative impact upon the community on a consistent basis (as judged by the administrative and moderation staff) may be prohibitted from posting on the Omega Sector BBs, whether or not prior sanctions have occured. Such rare action may only be taken in extreme situations out of an overall concern for the wellfare of the community at large.

Sanctions

  • Upon the receipt of 3 (three) warnings, said member will be immediately placed on Moderation for a period of no more and no less than 1 (one) week, during which time, their posts will be subject to inspection and approval by the staff, prior to public viewing.
  • Upon the receipt of 6 (six) warnings, said member will be immediately temporarily Suspended for a period of no more and no less than 1 (one) week, during which time, they will loose the capability to post, read, or otherwise interact with the Omega Sector.
  • Upon the receipt of 9 (nine) warnings, said member will be immediately temporarily Suspended for a period of no more and no less than 1 (one) week, during which time, they will loose the capability to post, read, or otherwise interact with the Omega Sector. Following this, said member will be placed immediately on Moderation for a period of no more and no less than 1 (one) week, during which time, their posts will be subject to inspection and approval by the staff, prior to public viewing. Additionally, said member will also be placed on Probation.
  • Upon receipt of 10 (ten) or more warnings, said member will be immediately suspended, pending a decision by the board Admins, on whether or not they will be banned from the Omega Sector for a term of no less than 6 (six) months, after which time, they may request re-admission. Any member who has 10 (ten) or more warnings, will be immediately suspended for each additional warning after the 10th (tenth), pending a unanimous decision by the board Admins, on whether or not they will be banned.
  • Any member who receives 12 (twelve) warnings will be immediately banned - without delay, deliberation, or unanimous decision by the board Admins - from the Omega Sector for a term of no less than 6 (six) months, after which time, they may request re-admission.
  • For any member with 6 (six) or fewer warnings, each warning, and corresponding 10% increase in a users warn level, will be invalidated upon it's approximate 1 (one) year anniversary, upon which time a users warn level will receive a corresponding 10% decrease to reflect this.
  • Any member with 7 (seven) or more warnings will not receive this invalidation upon the approximate 1 (one) year anniversary of each warning, without unanimous approval by the board Admins.
