I'm sure everyone has seen this before, but just found it again and wanted to share! Picard's look at the end is priceless!

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=JiKwAS1qaCk

It has been determined that Captain Picard Day (based on Stardate research by AndTheSky'sTheLimit) will be celebrated on November 4th!!! Please be sure to post artwork, sketches, poems, ect to help us all celebrate on that day! Mrs. Picard will be "handing out" awards, including "4 honerable mentions"!!!

i would have paid good money to see Riker show up on the bridge with the Picard doll. And then have him say - it's not a doll, it's an action figure.

*grin* I adore how Jean-Luc is all embarrassed about all the stuff that these kids sent in. ;) He's so adorable in that scene! (Okay, he's always adorable. I know.)

And I'd have loved to see what he came up with for Commander Riker Day. ;)

Yeah, that was totally unexpected that I like that scene and know it by heart. ;)

I wonder who came up with the idea of Captain Picard Day in the first place, by the way. It is obvious that Jean-Luc doesn't really care THAT much for kids... but someone must have approached him with the idea at some point and he must have said yes - or someone talked him into it without taking "no" for an answer. My guess is that it was Troi. It seems like something she would do. ;) And Jean-Luc desperately seems to want the teachers to stop it. My guess is that Troi intervened once again. LOL. Bad Troi! ;)

You're probably right about Troi starting it, seems like something she would do! She (along with Wil) seem to take enjoyment from Picard being subjected to accolades from kids (which he clearly is uncomfortable with)...

I must admit I can see why they think it's funny. I'd probably stand right there with them and chuckle (and look all innocent when he glares at me LOL). :angel_not:

Seriously, though, the entire scene represents a huge step in the whole "Jean-Luc warms up to his crew" process... the way they joke around with him - look at Grumpy Picard from the early TNG seasons... he'd NEVER have allowed this sort of thing to go on for so long. *lol* (I still prefer him, though, don't get me wrong. I love Grumpy Picard. Hehe.) And the way he gets back to Riker later by telling him that he has arranged for a Commander Riker Day... this sort of "positive" bickering is also something that Grumpy Picard wouldn't have done. Hehe.

I actually like the later seasons of Picard (don't get me wrong, LOVE all of them!) becuause he really conveys a trust with his crew and softens a bit to reveal more of himself...Although he still maintains a bit of reserve..."Don't you have someplace to be?" He's clearly NOT completely comfortable and that's what I think makes the scene so great!

Hehe most people prefer Later Seasons Picard... I'm used to that. *lol* It's not that I dislike a slightly more relaxed Jean-Luc... it's just that I love his grumpiness so much. I know that it would have been unrealistic and perhaps also slightly annoying to have seven seasons of Season1-GrumpyPicard... but one can still dream, right? I just love him when he's all grumpy towards everyone. *grin*

Hehe yes he's not completely comfortable and yup, that's what makes the scene so wonderful... but then, imagine the same situation taking place in season 1. Season 1 Jean-Luc would have growled "I don't think this is appropriate behavior, Commander, and I would appreciate it if you stopped it immediately. Dismissed." So, I'd say that "Isn't there something else you have to do?" is DEFINITELY an improvement.

Awww... thanks! But yeah. I am very, very protective when it comes to him, I admit it. There are a few decisions that he made that I don't fully agree with, but hey... one can't ALWAYS agree on EVERYTHING with one's spouse... the general rule, however, is that what offends him offends me. ;) But not if it involves joking around with Riker, Troi and Picard dolls. I'm with Riker and Troi on this one. LOL.

I did see it, yes... but I can't enter... I'm not from the US, remember? ;)

I'd probably ask you to carve a Nemesis dress uniform Jean-Luc Picard. ;)

There isn't much that I like about Nemesis... but Jean-Luc in his dress uniform is one of the few exceptions. He just looks wonderful in it. :inlove:

See, I need to sit down and watch the whole movie...stopped after First Contact (had kids, got very busy! Well, actually, got VERY busy and kids were the result!!! :inlove: ). Caught the last 20 minutes and saw Data DIE!?!?!? I was crushed, so now I need to view the whole thing. I hear most fans aren't thrilled with it, but I love the characters so much that even a BAD TNG is better than none at all...

Exactly!

Now, as for Captain Picard day - I love that scene; has anybody got the Stardate for that episode, we could work out a rough day and pick an earth date for it and celebrate it each year...haha

Ok, so I couldn't resist my own challenge...

I used the 'Trek Guide.com' calculator to change the 'Pegasus' episode stardate into an earthdate and it came out as November 7...

I hereby request that each year OmegaSector and its members observe November 7 as Captain Picard Day! haha
