The Best battle in star trek. If you love the NX-01, do not watch. It suffers great damage.

In the Enterprise Episode "Azati Prime" i was shocked by the last 10 minutes. The Enterprise got the worst beating we eveer seen a starship take. In one battle that is (Year of hell dont count because that was over a year's time and that had a reset button. This episode did not). Since this episode did not have a reset button, the enterprise was stuck with the dmaage she suffered in this episode for the rest of the season (This was the mid season finale) and into part of the 4th season. The directing, music, and cinematics were great in this battle. BEtter direction and drama than the lousy battle in Nemesis.

Beloe, watch the vid, watch the Enterprise get beaten up more than it ever had, and will have.

Tell me what you think.

A tough choice coming up.

Azati Prime was one hell of a savage and pretty graphic battle ... but I'm going to swing off and go with the Wrath of Khan and the battles we see in there, they were just as brutal really, though rather less one sided over all, and IMO it captures the same sort of feel as we have throughout Balance of Terror, which in itself was another terrific battle, given the fact the producers had to do all that on a budget of around 18p.

Nemesis did have one shining light ... someone finally had the nouse to target the bridge for once  ... I've always hated the idea of having the nerve centre of all starships so exposed the way they are

They cut off the producer credits! That's the most chilling bit!

The fact this wasn't a cliffhanger episode, not called "Azati Prime, Part 1" (ENT) or anything, made this a shocking ending to a great episode. My favourite space battle from all Star Trek, it has to be, hands down. That awesome shot of the crewmembers flying into space from the hull breach, leading to that slow-motion cliffhanger... beautiful work, absolutely mind-blowing. Another of my favourite shots is the look of horror on Travis Mayweather's face as the ceiling comes down on his head, and T'Pol's close-up obviously, along with her anguish yet exhaustion in the line "Get it back!"

Watching the show all the way through, in order... you've got to understand how much of an impact this ending to this episode made.

great scene. I think the only other times we've seen ships taking more of a beating, they've actually been destroyed... I'm particularly thinking of the Odyssey in The Jem Hadar and the Defiant in The Changing Face Of Evil.

I was in utter shock when i first saw the episode. When i saw the scene where the crew members got blown out into space, i stood up from the hospital waiting room chair and stood point blank in front of the tv.

The music in the episode was really energetic. Pumped up. I liked the piece that played as it first showed the xindi attacking and reed says "We lost hull plating" . That poor guy in the back during that seen kept ketting bashed. panel explodes in his face, hes slammed to the table, then an I-beam slams him in the side. Hes the one they have to carry off the bridge at the end. But where did they take him? The captain's ready room? Thats all thats on that side of the bridge.

At the dead center of the saucer to beat it all. And with the 24th century phaser array, it looks even more like a BULLSEYE to aim for. I think Gene Roddenberry was out of his mind for that rule.

I think though, the high energy from the blast, we should have seen both helsmen vaporized by the blast and the people at the side stations, one of them sucked out. ANd i think the bridge should have been looking a lot darker, more steam, hazy, and alarms blasting like mad. Not enough alarms in that scene.
In The earlier season 3 episode "Twilight", the Enterprise Nx-01 bridge is targeted, and the whole side gets blown off...but you see no one get sucked out. Although, that was another RESET episode.

A really Nice touch i thought, just before the screen fades out of "Azati Prime" , the light that illuminates "NX-01 Enterprise" failes, signaling the death of the ship. And another nice thing is, it did not end with "To be continued". Imagine if the series had been canceled in mid season, and that was the last episode. ::GASP::

And that's why that 'rule' goes stright into the bin where my own starships are concerned ;)

agreed about the bridge position, but then ALL scifi starships that I can think of have bridge at the top or front.

Even the BattleBridge of the Enterprise D was near the top of the stardrive, wasn't it?

^ I think so. I, too, always found that a bit stupid. Like someone else said: Its like a big red bull's eye. It's like they're dareing the enemy to go on and shoot em. If I were in battle with a starship, I know exactly where I'd shoot first.

and on so many of the Starfleet ship classes infact, especially the Galaxy where it's in the middle of a her-uge circle etc, even has an 'inner' circle on the Galaxy and Nebula classes where the Phaser array is, and another where you have the raised area around the Bridge, a bit like the zones on a dartboard or an archery target

At least the Defiant had it's bridge sort of sunk within a circle :P

Same here lol, a staple of Sunday Night viewing... that were back when we didn't have gazillions of channels... now for me, main sunday night viewing are the BBC (Top Gear, new series starts tonight  ) and new Family Guy on BBC3 (were a few weeks away from the episode with the TNG cast EDIT: Just looked in the listings and apparently that one is actually on tonight  )

*shakes head*

Anyways back to the point... yeah I can picture Bowen or Green making comments on things like that, lol :P

4 against 1. ANd they did stand a chance, just Tpol wasnt smart enough to fire all the photonic torpedos. (I think she was high on Lilly D which basically your right they didnt stand a chance with her in command) THey managed to destroy 1 reptillian ship with a photonic torpedo. But it was a little late in the battle. And they hadnt ran out because they continued to fore Photonic torpedoes for the rest of the seasons.

I think daniuels should have brought the Enterprise J to the present if he really wanted to fix history. (I actually thought that was what E2 was gonna be about) . I really wanted to see more of that ship...dispite how ugly it was.

Maybe the launchers were damaged/destroyed? It was implied in ENT: Damage that the launchers were knocked out in the battle (aft torpedo launchers and one forward phase cannon are back online according to T'Pol) - and besides it happens in much less serious battles, why not this one?

I love the NX-01, it's a beautiful ship if you ask me, but in season three it was a death trap with two warp nacelles!

This was a fabulous episode. I loved how the ship was just falling apart; all the way from Engineering to the Bridge and everywhere. Gave a real sense of helplessness and utter, utter defeat. And I thought it was nice how through the whole season you see this completely beat-up ship. I don't think any other series showed that badly beaten of a ship that still went on. I also liked how when a huge hole got blasted out of the NX-01, people flew out. Fwoosh!

Heheh... I guess that's what happens when you don't have shield technology.

However, I must say my favourite battle would have to be one of those epic ones in the last couple seasons of DS9 (thrilling!) or the Enterprise vs. Reliant in TWOK... Why? Because it's CLASSIC, and still epic over ten years after it was made. 8D

i dunno the enterprise e took a beating during the scimitar attack! jeez it had the bridge almost destroyed! let alone the borg invading the majority of the ship so i would say no it wasnt the worst battle damage
