I used to live near Dunmore WV..

I personally like Gad WV. Although not particularly strange at first, the thing that makes the town name funny is that, back in the 60's, they built a dam in that area, but when they went to name it, they realized the "Gad Dam" wasnt such a good idea so they renamed it the Summersville Dam (next closest town)

Gad...is now underwater.

While I'm on the subject of WV..
There is a road sign...on a back road to Elkins WV that says "Coalton 6 Mabie 7"
This is, of course, the towns of Coalton and Mabie...but it's still absolutely hallarious.

Minnesota (MN)
- Coon Rapids - (Affrimative action hasn't got here yet)
- Ham Lake - (Mmmm... Lake 'o' ham)
- Leech Lake
- Nowthen
- Savage
- Shakopee - (This is what men do after using the bathroom)

Those are the places on that list I've been. And Coon Rapids' symbol is a raccoon. It's a rather large city in Anoka County as well.

Ham Lake is also in Anoka County. Pretty boring there. Nothing much to do.

Leech Lake is one of the biggest lakes in Minnesota. Biiiig tourist area.

Nowthen I just usually pass by on my way up north.
I swear I've been to Savage...just don't know when or why.

Shakopee is pronounced "Shock-o-pee". So the joke doesn't make sense. And I've been there tons of times. That's where Valley Fair and the local Ren-fest is held every year.

There's also a small Amish town in PA called Paradise. The road to Paradise reputedly goes through Intercourse... ;)

Of course, let's not forget the non-English US names:

Corpus Christi, TX = The corpse/body of Christ
Baton Rouge = Red stick...

I just got to the ones in Oklahoma, where I live!

I live under 15 minutes away from both Medicine Park, and Holy City.

However, the Holy City isn't a city, a town, or any other municipality, has no government, and a population of zero. :)

http://www.theholycitylawton.com/

Here is a picture of part of the holy city: http://outdoors.webs...062928585CjAZAO

More on Holy City, another excellent picture: http://marti.rootswe...s/holycity.html

And, about 6 or 7 miles away from the Holy City, Medicine Park (which IS indeed a true establishment, has a population, police, etc.) and a really neat place! : http://www.medicinepark.com/

Medicine Park Wiki (has nice map reference, too): http://en.wikipedia....i/Medicine_Park

Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge (wherein the Holy City is kept). The Gate to the maint entrance of the refuge is half a mile outside of Medicine Park: http://www.fws.gov/s...chitamountains/
